About this site

A plain starting point for people who know nothing about Bitcoin yet.

Why this site exists

Most Bitcoin information is written for people who already understand it. It is full of jargon, price charts, and hype. This site is for everyone else: the relative, the coworker, the skeptic.

It starts with what’s wrong with today’s money, explains why sound money matters, and then shows a safe first step. It doesn’t predict prices, and it doesn’t sell anything.

Who runs it

Bearclaw Bitcoin is an independent educational project. It points readers who want one-on-one help with self-custody to The Bitcoin Way.

Disclosures

Referral links. The River link on this site is a referral link. If you sign up through it, we may receive a reward, at no extra cost to you. Every page with a referral link says so on that page.

Not advice. This site is education, not financial, legal, or medical advice. Bitcoin’s price can fall as well as rise. Only you can decide what’s right for your money. Talk to a qualified professional about your own situation.

Health. The page on how money shapes everyday life makes an argument about incentives. It is not medical guidance. Talk to your doctor about your own health.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure on this site links to its primary source, such as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. Treasury, the FDIC, and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Figures are refreshed when the site is rebuilt, and each one shows the date it applies to.
