Bitcoin in 5 minutes
A one-page summary to print and hand to someone.
1. Money is a tool
Money stores the value of your work so you can use it later. Good money keeps that value safe while you wait.
2. Today’s money leaks
Central banks can create more dollars whenever they decide to. More dollars chasing the same stuff means each dollar buys less. Since 1913, the dollar has lost 97% of its buying power.¹
3. The debt keeps growing
The U.S. government owes $40.6 trillion.² In fiscal year 2026, it spent $1.05 trillion just on interest.³ The easiest way out is to create more money, which shrinks the dollar further.
4. Bitcoin is money no one can print
Bitcoin runs on a public network of computers around the world. No company, bank, or government controls it. There will only ever be 21 million bitcoin, and every computer on the network enforces that rule. You can own a small piece: one bitcoin splits into 100 million sats.
5. Start small and stay safe
- Buy a small amount you’d be fine leaving alone for years.
- Never share your recovery words. Anyone who asks for them is a thief.
- Avoid “investment managers,” giveaways, and other coins that promise returns.
- When you’re ready, learn to hold your own keys.
